A congenital anomaly scan examines the baby’s development and identifies potential congenital problems by assessing the position of the placenta, amount of amniotic fluid, and fetal growth measurement. This procedure is conducted 18-21 weeks into pregnancy.
The main purpose of the anomaly scan is to assess the pregnancy thoroughly and determine the presence of any rare conditions including those of the brain, spine, and heart. You can also request to know the gender of the baby at this scan.
Please note: Once you've booked, our nurses will reach out within 24-48 hours for your schedule. Please wait for a message in the email address you have provided! For urgent concerns, please prioritize a visit to the Emergency Room.
A doctor's request will be required before checking out.
A congenital anomaly scan is conducted by Kindred’s OB-Sonologist and takes about 30 minutes. To ensure a smooth and successful procedure, your Kindred nurse or doctor will give you instructions to arrive at the clinic with a full bladder and avoid urinating 30 minutes before your ultrasound.
Women who are 18-21 weeks into pregnancy can get a congenital anomaly scan.
